Tito Sotto took a swipe at those using “old showbiz gimmick to make money,” which interestingly came amid his brother Vic Sotto’s legal battle with filmmaker Darryl Yap over a Pepsi Paloma film teaser.

Tito piqued the curiosity of his fans after he made such a statement through his X (formerly Twitter) page on Thursday, Jan. 9.

“When you rely on an old showbiz gimmick to make money and got your facts all wrong, you will falter, for sure!” he said without expounding.

On the same day Tito shared his post, Vic filed 19 counts of cyberlibel complaint against Yap before the Muntinlupa Prosecutor’s Office. The complaint stemmed from the mention of Vic’s name as one of the alleged rapists of Paloma in the teaser of Yap’s film about the late sexy actress.

Vic seeks moral damages amounting to P20 million and exemplary damages amounting to P15 million.

The “Eat Bulaga” host also initiated the filing of a petition for the issuance of a writ of habeas data, seeking the removal of any information about him used in the promotion of the upcoming film.

Yap, in response, defended his movie teaser and asserted that it is based on “published reports, deleted videos and old newspapers.”

The director’s lawyer also filed an urgent motion for the issuance of a gag order to bar Vic’s camp from publicly disclosing information related to Yap’s unreleased project.
