MANILA, Philippines — Trisha Tubu, once again, caught the attention of former league MVP Sisi Rondina as she unleashed 31 points before Farm Fresh fell to Choco Mucho in five sets in the 2024-24 PVL All-Filipino Conference.

Tubu continued her scoring tear, smashing 28 kills, two blocks, and an ace to lead the gallant stand of the Foxies against the Flying Titans, who escaped with a 25-20, 25-21, 21-25, 25-27, 15-12 win on Thursday evening at Philsports Arena.

“I’m already side-eyeing Trisha,” Rondina quipped. “The kid is really amazing. I told her there’s still so much more she can do, and she can surpass what she showed in this game. Hats off to her because she handled it well and showed incredible courage. She’s getting braver each time.”

Tubu was flattered to hear those words from Rondina, whom they tried to stop but the Choco Mucho star was still able to deliver the finishing blows in the fifth set.

“I’m really happy, especially since it’s from Ate Sisi. We all know her caliber as a wing spiker, and she’s really hard to defend against,” said Tubu. “Actually, she was one of the players we studied on how to stop, but we couldn’t manage to contain her. Still, I’m glad I got to face her again in a game.”

Despite ending the year with a loss, Tubu and the Foxies were still grateful to end the year with a good showing, finishing 2024 with a 2-3 record tied with their sister team ZUS Coffee.

“We didn’t give up easily because we were supposed to lose in the fourth set, but we managed to catch up, so I’m really happy,” said Tubu. “We really pushed ourselves to move and fight to take that fourth set.”

The former Adamson star is eager to develop her game with the Foxies, who are now under coach Benson Bocboc and added veterans Rachel Anne Daquis and Jheck Dionela.

“It’s a different system again, and there are new players, so it’s a challenge,” she added. “But we all help each other in every aspect, and the challenge lies in making progress.”
